Kano state governor Abba Yusuf has denied the knowledge of a contract allegedly awarded for drug supply to the 44 LGAs in the state.
According to a joint statement from Sanusi Bature, the governor’s spokesperson, and Halilu Dantiye, the Kano commissioner of information Yusuf commanded an investigation into the claim.
Thus, according to the statement, “the Governor directed the Executive Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), to immediately investigate the allegation and report the outcome for further necessary action.”
Yusuf further advised the Kano people to wait patiently for the investigation’s conclusion.
This follows the assertion made by Bello Galadanchi, also known as Dan Bello, a skit creator, in a widely shared film claiming the Kano administration was a party to a drug supply agreement.
Bello claimed in the video that there was a bogus contract between the Kano administration and the 44 LGAs.
“We’ve uncovered some past theft of public funds, but what about on-going wrongdoings?” he said.
He alleged that the 44 LGAs in the state are “forced to pay N10 million before taxes for medicinesa”.
