AC Milan Boss Reveals Reason Behind Decision To Bench Chukwueze Against Juventus

The reason behind Samuel Chukwueze’s bench start in AC Milan’s Serie A match against Juventus has been disclosed by manager Stefano Pioli.

Surprisingly, Chukwueze, who has performed well for the Rossoneri recently, was left out of the starting lineup for the match against Maximiliano Allegri’s team.

The Nigerian international was included to the substitutes list, but he didn’t take Christian Pulisic’s place until seven minutes left.

Pioli has been criticised for turning Chukwueze to a bench warmer.

The Italian however said he has often had to sacrifice the winger for a midfielder.

”I liked Pulisic (vs Juventus) instead. Chukwueze is also fine, but at the moment I won’t give up an extra midfielder to play with 4 attacking players and therefore Chukwuze is the one sacrificed the most at the moment,” Pioli told Milan News.

The 24-year-old has scored once in 22 league appearances for AC Milan this season.
