‘Adire’ Featuring Kehinde Bankole Scores Four Nominations at Best of Nollywood Awards

The film *Adire*, starring Kehinde Bankole, has earned four nominations at the prestigious Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards. FilmOne Entertainment, the producers and distributors of *Adire*, took to Instagram to celebrate the film’s recent achievement, highlighting its remarkable success.

“Adire has just earned 4 nominations at the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, and it’s no surprise! From breathtaking cinematography to outstanding performances from the cast and crew. Big congratulations on this achievement,” the post stated.

The four nominations include *Best Cinematography*, *Best Actress* for Kehinde Bankole, *Best Costume*, and *Best Production Design*. Since its release on Netflix on January 13, 2024, *Adire* has captivated audiences, grossing ₦8 million during its opening weekend.

The BON Awards, which began in 2009, honors exceptional talent and creativity in Nollywood, with over 30 categories. The film’s recognition further cements its position in the Nigerian film industry.

*Adire* follows the compelling story of a young fashion entrepreneur, played by Bankole, who is haunted by her dark past as a sex worker and struggles with the consequences of her former life. The film is created and written by Jack’enneth Opukeme, who also appears as an actor in the movie.

Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, also known as Captain Degzy, *Adire* boasts an impressive cast, including Nollywood heavyweights such as Femi Branch, Kelechi Udegbe, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Ibrahim Chatta, Yemi Blaq, and Yvonne Jegede. The ensemble cast also features Lizzy Jay, Mike Afolarin, Tomi Ojo, Damilola Ogunsi, Onyinye Odokoro, Ifeanyi Kalu, and Layi Wasabi.
