AFCON 2023: ‘Bring the trophy home’ — Sanwo-Olu charges Super Eagles
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has tasked the Super Eagles with winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
On Sunday, Jose Peseiro’s team will kick off their campaign against Equatorial Guinea’s Nzalang Nacional.
The match in Group A is scheduled to go at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium located in Ebimpe, Abidjan.
Sanwo-olu, who on Wednesday held a send-off dinner for the Super Eagles in Lagos, expressed his excitement for the squad’s first-ever matchup with Equatorial Guinea.
“Throwback to this beautiful night of excellence and laughter as we hosted the Super Eagles before they set off for #Afcon2023,” Sanwo-Olu wrote on his X handle on Thursday
“I am looking forward to their first match and the message to them was clear ‘No gree for anybody. “Bring home the Nations Cup.” The Super Eagles will also face hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau in Group A
