Agbo led NNPP faction expels Kwankwaso

The Agbo Major led faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has expelled Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.

The NNPP’s board of trustees (BoT), chaired by party founder Boniface Aniebonam, suspended Kwankwaso last Tuesday on claims of anti-party activity.

The suspension was later lifted by a faction of the party loyal to Kwankwaso

The party’s national executive council had also set up a disciplinary committee to probe allegations of anti-party activities and mismanagement of party funds levelled against Kwankwaso.

The former Kano governor was instructed to appear before the committee within five days of receiving the invitation.

The NEC had warned Kwankwaso that if he failed to show up before the disciplinary committee, he would be expelled in accordance with the NNPP’s constitution.

Abdulsalam Abdulrasaq, NNPP’s acting national publicity secretary, in a statement on Tuesday, said NEC resolved to expel him because of his refusal to honour the committee’s invitation.

“Following the refusal of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to appear before the Disciplinary Committee which sat on Thursday 31st August 2023 after being duly invited in writing, he is hereby expelled from New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with immediate effect,” Abdulrasaq said.

Kwankwaso will be reported to the proper authorities, to address concerns about “financial impropriety relating to mismanagement of public funds.” Abdulrasaq added.
