AIG Fayoade Adegoke Launches Probe into Allegations of Police Misconduct at Maroko Station

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 2 Command, AlG Fayoade Adegoke, has established a six-member panel to investigate allegations made by a woman who claimed she was detained at Maroko Police Station alongside male and under-aged individuals.

The allegations, which surfaced in a viral video, have raised serious concerns regarding police conduct

The probe panel includes notable members: DCP Ajao S. Adewale, who heads the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department; ACP Ogunsakin Gbenga, in charge of the Zonal Intelligence Department;  Emma Nndozie, Group Crime Editor at Vanguard Newspapers; human rights activist Comrade Adeoye Adewunmi; Ivy Kanu from TVC News; and  Blessing Afe, a lawyer and social worker.

AIG Adegoke is set to formally inaugurate the panel today at 12 noon at the MD Abubakar Conference Hall, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

In a statement, police authorities emphasized that the establishment of the panel aligns with the force leadership’s commitment to upholding human rights and addressing gender-related issues within the police system.

The outcome of the investigation will be closely watched as the police strive to ensure accountability and transparency in their operations.
