The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, has urged newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to uphold integrity and avoid disgraceful acts, including extorting members of the public.
Fayoade made this statement during the decoration ceremony of 33 newly promoted officers from Lagos and Ogun Police Commands, which took place at the zonal command’s conference hall. He emphasized that the officers’ promotion was not an opportunity to relax, but rather a call to duty. He urged them to work harder to ensure the safety and security of lives and properties in their jurisdictions.
Acknowledging the promotion of over 2,000 police officers from SP to CSP as a record-breaking achievement, AIG Fayoade expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission for their efforts.
In his address, Fayoade stressed the importance of avoiding corruption and extortion, emphasizing the need for officers to perform their duties professionally and be appreciated for their contributions. He also urged the officers to positively represent the police force and engage with the public kindly and respectfully.
The AIG reminded the officers that their role as principal security agents of the country comes with significant responsibility and a need to rise to public expectations.
