Akpabio, Uzodinma, others meet Tinubu at State House

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State are currently meeting President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

The meeting comes after Akpabio’s emergence as the country’s Senate President of the 10th National Assembly on Tuesday.

The voting in the election of a new Senate President had commenced before 09:00 am with Akpabio and former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator-elect Abdul’aziz Yari, going toe to toe.

On Monday, the Imo Governor who chaired a “small technical committee to help coordinate the process of Tuesday’s election” in the Senate and the House of Representatives had expressed hope of a landslide victory for Akpabio.

All 109 senators-elect are expected to participate in the election of the new leadership of the upper chamber.

Of the number, 59 are members of the ruling APC, while the remaining 50 belong to the six opposition parties, namely PDP, LP, NNPP, YPP, APGA and SDP.
