Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has officially signed the ₦955 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year into law. The signing took place one week after the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly passed the budget, which is titled the “Budget of Consolidation and Expansion.”
The ceremony was held on Monday at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo.
In a statement issued, Governor Eno praised the State House of Assembly for its prompt passage of the budget and highlighted the positive working relationship between the executive and the legislature.
He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to ensure the successful delivery of democratic benefits to the people of Akwa Ibom.
The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly passed the 2025 budget on Tuesday, December 24, after adopting the report from the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance. The ₦955 billion budget includes ₦300 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦655 billion for capital expenditure. This represents a 3% increase from the revised ₦923.412 billion provision for 2024.
The budget-signing ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong, members of the State Executive Council, and other legislators.
