Alumni, NANS laud Tinubu over TASUED conversion to federal varsity

The National President of the Alumni Association of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Bolaji Oladeji, has expressed great excitement over the federal government’s decision to convert TASUED into a federal institution.

In a statement issued on Monday, Oladeji hailed the move, which was approved by President Bola Tinubu, noting that it would undoubtedly foster rapid development for the university.

“The alumni, as key stakeholders with a long-standing commitment to advancing the university’s development, welcome this decision with high expectations focused on progress and growth,” Oladeji said. “Members of the university community, including staff and students, are truly grateful to President Bola Tinubu for this historic gesture.”

Oladeji also expressed hope for improved funding, which would enhance infrastructure, staff welfare, research opportunities, and elevate the university’s global recognition as an institution of excellence in teacher education.

In a similar vein, Akinbodunse Praise, the Vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Students for Inter-Campus Affairs, also commended the Federal Government for officially recognizing the university as the country’s first-ever university of education.

Praise stated that the Federal Government’s decision signals the present administration’s commitment to the development of the education sector. He further commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his dedication to the institution, especially in the face of attempts by previous administrations to dissolve it.

Praise also expressed gratitude to the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, and other influential Nigerians who played a pivotal role in ensuring the continuation of the university.

He assured that the student community would continue to support the Federal Government’s efforts for the overall benefit of Nigerian students.
