The leaders In Lagos’ Ardova Handball Premier League, Tojemarine Academy defeated Sunshine Kings 36–25 on Thursday to get back to winning ways.
The leaders were playing at their peak against the Kings of Akure to get one step closer to the championship after losing to Safety Shooters 27–24 on Tuesday.
Other games saw Rima Strikers defeat Correction Boys 41-25, Lagos Seasiders upset De Defenders 18-14 in a low-scoring match, and Benue Buffaloes and Kano Pillars draw at 25 goals each.
In the women’s category, Safety Babes beat Bendel Dynamos 50-27. Safety Babes remain unbeaten and are coasting to another title.
Coach Innocent Nwankwo of Safety Babes, attributed his team’s performance to discipline, hard work, focus and the backing of the corp marshall.
He stated that his team had been able to conquer the Nigerian handball team and the next is to compete at the African club championship where they hope to rub shoulders with the best on the continent.
He called on corporate bodies to team up with the Safety Babes in their quest to bring laurel to the country.
He said, “I will attribute our performance to discipline, hard work, focus and the support of the corp marshall. We have conquered Nigeria and we want to move to Africa and do Nigeria proud.”
