Army Chief Oluyede Arrives in Zamfara on First Operational Visit

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has visited Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, on Thursday.

This marks his first visit to the region since his appointment on October 30, 2024, and comes amid ongoing military efforts to tackle banditry and other security threats in the North-West.

Upon his arrival, Oluyede inspected the quarter guard under tight security before proceeding to receive an operational briefing from the Theatre Commander, Major General Oluyinka Soyele.

The briefing focused on the current security situation in the region, recent successes in operations, and strategies being implemented to combat banditry and other security issues in Zamfara and surrounding states.

Operation Fasan Yamma, a key initiative of the Nigerian Army, plays a critical role in efforts to restore peace and stability to the North-West, which has been plagued by increasing cases of banditry, kidnapping, and other security challenges.

During his visit, Oluyede is also scheduled to visit the Headquarters of One Brigade, Nigerian Army Gusau, and meet with frontline troops to boost their morale.
