Army still searching for missing weapons in Okuama – GOC  

The General Officer Commanding the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army Major General Jamal Abdussalam, has reaffirmed the army’s commitment to recovering military equipment and arms stolen during the tragic incident in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The announcement came on Tuesday during the inauguration of newly remodeled and reconstructed transit accommodation for soldiers at the 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army, located in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

The newly constructed facilities, funded and donated by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), include 68 rooms, 18 toilets and bathrooms, and three central kitchens. The project was spearheaded by Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo.

This initiative is part of TSSNL’s efforts to support the Nigerian Army, reflecting their appreciation for the military’s role in securing their operations against crude oil theft.

General Abdussalam expressed gratitude for the new accommodations, noting that they would significantly benefit the troops by addressing their critical needs. He emphasized that the army would persist in their operations until the stolen equipment and arms are recovered, honoring the memory of the soldiers lost on March 14, 2024.

The GOC praised the project as a key element in enhancing the welfare of the troops and aligning with the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja’s philosophy of prioritizing personnel well-being. He commended TSSNL for their substantial contribution, highlighting how the project underscores the importance of both operational success and robust troop welfare.

The Managing Director of TSSNL Kestin Pondi represented at the event by Captain Warriedi Enisuoh, Executive Director of Operations, Technical, explained that the project was a gesture of appreciation for the Nigerian Army’s sacrifices.

He acknowledged that the company relies on the military for support in their security operations and expressed that the new accommodation would offer comfort to troops during transfers.
