Arokodare scores again in the Genk win

At the Cegeka Arena on Sunday, Genk’s daring 3-2 victory over the defending champions Club Brugge featured a goal from Tolu Arokodare, the team’s 2024–25 Belgian Junior Pro League forward.

After Genk had fallen behind their visitors 2-0, Arokodare tied the score with seven minutes remaining in the game.

Minutes before Jarne Steuckers cut the deficit for Gent, Skov Olsen broke the scoreless draw for Club Brugge and made it two for the winners in the sixtyth minute.

Steuckers was on hand to provide the equaliser for Arokodare in the 83rd minute, while Slovakian midfielder Patrik Hrosovsky completed the comeback for Genk in stoppage time.

The Nigerian has found the back of the net in back-to-back games for the Belgian side in just three games this season.

Last week, he was assisted by his compatriot, Yira Sor, for his first goal of the season in their 3-1 defeat to Ohio Leuven.

At his current rate, he could better his last season’s tally when he scored 15 goals plus three assists across 52 games for the club.

Before the start of this season, the 23-year-old had been linked with a move to Turkish club Trabzonspor, which his agent has denied.

He joined Genk in January 2023 in a four-and-half-year deal, which runs until 2027.
