Arokodare Won’t Give Up On Super Eagles Chance

Tolu Arokodare believed that in order to be acknowledged on a global scale, he would need to work harder.

For KRC Genk, the leaders of the Belgian Pro League, Arokodare has been playing exceptionally well this season.

This season, the 23-year-old has made 11 league appearances for the Smurfs and scored seven goals.

Despite his impressive displays for Genk, he was overlooked by Super Eagles interim head coach Austine Eguavoen for the side’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.

The forward however insisted that he will continue working hard to get a call-up to the team.

“For the national team, I know that I have to play in a major competition in the long term. If a Nigerian striker scores three times in the Premier League or the Bundesliga, I know that I have to score at least eight times to have a chance of being called up,” he told De Standaard.

“It would be great to wear the shirt of my country. If the national coach does not call me up, I still have a club to focus on.”
