The younger brother of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police at the Magistrates’ Court in Ogba, Lagos State. Adura, along with his friend Ibrahim Koleosho (aka King White), was detained on Wednesday after attending a legal hearing concerning a phone he allegedly sold to one Damola Ayinde.
The incident follows a dramatic public dispute involving Mohbad’s mother, Abosede, and actor Yomi Fabiyi, who had accused Adura of involvement in a controversial Instagram chat. Fabiyi had filed a petition in December 2024, claiming that Adura attempted to extort N3 million in Bitcoin in exchange for a video allegedly showing how Mohbad died. However, Adura has denied the accusation, stating the chat was made by Ayinde, the buyer of his phone. A forensic investigation is ongoing, and the case is still under court review.
Reacting to her son’s arrest, Abosede was visibly distressed, breaking down in tears in a viral video. She accused Fabiyi and one Sam Jojo of orchestrating her son’s abduction. In the video, she can be heard pleading for help, saying in Yoruba, “Please help me, Nigerians. Yomi Fabiyi and Sam Jojo have taken my son. I don’t know where they are taking him to. He asked them to take my son away. My son did nothing to them. They must not lay a hand on him, he is sick. Demola, you’ve put me in trouble. Mohbad’s spirit will fight you.”
The tension between Adura and Fabiyi has been escalating for months. In December, Adura demanded a public apology from Fabiyi and Ayinde, accusing them of hacking his TikTok account and damaging his reputation. He also filed a lawsuit for N1 billion, alleging defamation, evidence tampering, and fraud.
A family source, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the arrest of Adura is likely linked to a heated exchange between Koleosho and Fabiyi over the phone sale. The source confirmed that Koleosho was arrested, but the family is unaware of Adura’s whereabouts.
As of the time of reporting, Fabiyi had not responded to calls or text messages, and the police spokesperson, Ayuba Umma, was unavailable for comment.
According to a police insider, the arrests were made by operatives from the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, rather than the Lagos State Command. However, the reason for the arrests remains unclear, with further inquiries directed to the zonal police spokesperson, who had not responded at the time of publication.
