Arsenal captain Odegaard sidelined with ankle injury till December

Due to an ankle injury, Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, has been out until December, according to sources.

During the most recent international break, Odegaard was hurt while representing Norway in international competition.

Although it was first anticipated that he would heal quickly from the injury, additional testing showed he would require more time off.

The 25-year-old will now undergo rehabilitation, ruling him out until the second half of the season.

Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta spoke on his injury ahead of their Champions League opener against Atalanta:

“After recent scans the scans showed that he’s got some damage especially on one of the ligaments in the ankle.

“It’s something quite significant so we’re going to lose him for a while hopefully not months but let’s see.

The Gunners currently have no cover for the midfielder with summer signing, Mikel Merino still on his way to recovery.

Declan Rice would however return from suspension to give the Gunners a chance against Premier League champions, Manchester City on Sunday.
