A heartbreaking road accident on the Agaie-Lapai Road in Niger State has claimed the lives of four people and left 13 others injured. The collision, which occurred near Al’Farma International School in Agaie Local Government Area, involved a head-on crash between three trailer trucks, one of which was carrying livestock.
According to Abdullahi Baba-Arah, Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), the accident was caused by a reckless overtaking maneuver. The impact was devastating, with two individuals dying at the scene and the remaining victims passing away later in the hospital.
In addition to the human toll, the crash resulted in the deaths of approximately 15 cattle and over 20 goats. The injured were swiftly taken to Agaie General Hospital for medical treatment.
Emergency responders, including NSEMA’s Agaie desk officer and local volunteers, arrived promptly at the scene to assist with rescue operations, transporting the injured and clearing the wreckage.
Authorities have called on motorists to exercise greater caution and avoid reckless driving to prevent such tragic events. Investigations into the cause of the crash are still ongoing.
