Augsburg Boss Hails Onyeka for Impressive Debut

Augsburg manager Jess Thorup praised Frank Onyeka after the midfielder made a strong debut for the club.

Onyeka started for Augsburg in Sunday’s 3-1 win over St. Pauli.

The 26-year-old made an immediate impression by assisting Philip Tietz on his second goal.

The defensive midfielder was in action for 83 minutes in the game.

“He (Onyeka) only trained twice and was involved in the international matches,” he said after the game.

“From the start, he showed us what a good player he is. He is ready to help the team, and that’s what he did today.

“Maybe the only thing missing was the goal at the end, although he had an assist and played very well. For a first game, it was really an outstanding game.”

Onyeka joined Augsburg from Premier League club, Brentford on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day.
