Autopsy: Toxicology on Mohbad’s body ongoing in US – Coroner

The Lagos Coroner Court in Ikorodu has disclosed that the pivotal phase of the autopsy process for the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, is currently underway in the United States.

State Counsel Oluwaseun Akinde provided this update on Wednesday during proceedings at the coroner’s court.

Akinde informed Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi that the autopsy concerning the external body of the deceased has been successfully concluded. However, the crucial toxicology test, which delves into the internal body, is being conducted overseas in the United States.

Responding to the coroner’s query regarding the decision to outsource the toxicology test to the US instead of utilizing local laboratories in Nigeria, Akinde clarified that Lagos State opted for this international approach due to the complex nature of various substances allegedly associated with the case.

The move aims to avert potential controversies surrounding the autopsy report, given the widespread attention the case has garnered both locally and globally.

Akinde emphasized that the decision to conduct the toxicology test abroad was taken to ensure the integrity of the investigation, particularly in light of the heightened international interest in the circumstances surrounding the untimely death of the popular singer, Mohbad.

The outcome of the toxicology test is anticipated to shed light on the cause of Mohbad’s death and contribute crucial information to the ongoing investigation.
