Bendel Insurance coach resigns

Monday Odigie has resigned from his position as coach of the Benin-based Bendel Insurance Football Club.

After the Benin Club team fell 2-3 against Rangers International of Enugu last Sunday, it was learnt late Thursday that Odigie had sent his letter of resignation to the club secretary, Mr. Charles Ihimekpen.

A source close to the team said Odigie wanted to resign on Match Day 10 encounter against Sunshine Stars of Akure.

But the outcome of the match, which Insurance won 2-1 on the road, prevented that from happening.

It was scooped that the gaffer, prior to his resignation as Bendel Insurance handler, went to Akure and Enugu, and returned alone without following the team.

League table

Insurance is currently occupying the bottom of the 20-team league, following its Week 12  loss to the reigning NPFL Champions, Enugu Rangers.

Bendel Insurance will, on Saturday, trade tackles with visiting Kwara United in Match Day 11 encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia’s Stadium in Benin, from 4 p.m.

At the time of this report, the Management of the team is yet to make statement about the development.

Meanwhile, Greg Igbinoba oversaw the team’s Thursday training at the main bowl of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
