Ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, Black Galaxies of Ghana’s head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has emphasized that his team is not focused on the longstanding rivalry with Nigeria. Ghana will host Nigeria for the first leg of the qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, with the second leg scheduled for next Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Dramani, speaking to CAFonline, stressed that the team is concentrating on their technical, tactical, and psychological preparation for the match, rather than dwelling on historical encounters with their rivals. He acknowledged the significance of the rivalry but stated that the focus is on achieving collective success.
“We focus on the team rather than the rivalry. While we respect the history, we are more aligned with our technical, tactical, and psychological preparation,” Dramani said.
The winner of the two-legged tie will secure qualification for the 2024 CHAN tournament, which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Dramani further highlighted the importance of channeling the pressure into positive energy, urging players to prioritize the team’s performance over individual achievements.
