Britain’s Princess Anne returns to royal duties

Britain’s Princess Anne resumed official activities on Friday, less than three weeks after requiring hospital treatment for a concussion inflicted by a horse.

Anne, 73, King Charles’ younger sister and the late Queen Elizabeth’s sole daughter, spent five nights in hospital on June 23 after suffering what Buckingham Palace described as a mild head injury.

But on Friday, the princess who is frequently recognized as the royal family member who works the hardest went back to her duties by going to the Riding for the Disabled Association National Championships in western England

The equestrian-loving prince, who competed in the Olympics, has supported the organization for almost 50 years and served as its president since 1986.

Anne suffered her head injury while walking in the grounds of Gatcombe Park estate where her home is located. It is thought the concussion was caused by an impact from a horse’s head or legs, although a royal source said she had been unable to recall what happened.
