Burna Boy unveils football academy for Nigerian kids

The Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has opened a new football academy in his home country.

The “Burna Boy Football Academy” was introduced, with training facilities located in Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Lagos.

Young football enthusiasts in the junior boys’ age group (4–15) and senior boys’ age group (16–21) are welcome to enrol in the academy. It seeks to improve players’ discipline, education, and pitching abilities.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR BURNA BOY FOOTBALL ACADEMY

Those who want to register their children can meet with the coaches on Saturdays and Sundays at the venues below;

Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt

14 Ruxton Rd, Ikoyi, Lagos.

“We aim to create an environment where kids can learn the fundamentals of football, combined with education, discipline, and technique, to excel in life beyond the sport,” reads a post on the academy’s website.

“We strive to engage parents in sports education, emphasizing its importance alongside academic pursuits.

“We believe this holistic approach is not only possible but essential for our children’s future success.”

‘Burna Boy Football Academy’ partners with top-tier football clubs such as Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspurs, Leicester City, and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Others include Watford from the Championship, Hearts and Hamilton, the Scottish league clubs.

Burna Boy is also expected to embark on a meet-and-greet across the four centres from September 1, 2024. The aim is to meet with the parents whose kids are registered at the academy.
