The prestigious 2024 CAF Keeper of the Year award organizers has nominated Stanley Nwabali of the Super Eagles.
According to a post made by CAF via X on Thursday, the goalie is now one of ten prestigious nominees who best represent the best goalkeeping talent in Africa.
The nomination sees Nwabali competing alongside established names in African football, including Morocco’s Yassine Bounou (now in Saudi Arabia), Egyptian goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir, and Senegal’s Djigui Diarra.
Other notable contenders include Cameroon’s Andre Onana, who currently plies his trade in the English Premier League.
The shortlist also features experienced campaigners such as Morocco’s Munir El Kajoui, Algeria’s Oussama Benbot, Ivory Coast’s Yahia Fofana, DR Congo’s Lionel Mpasi, and Tunisia’s Amanallah Memmiche.
Each nominee has demonstrated exceptional skill and consistency throughout the year, making this one of the most competitive goalkeeper awards in recent CAF history.
The nomination represents a milestone for Nigerian football, as Nwabali has become one of the few Nigerian goalkeepers to receive this prestigious recognition in recent years.
The winner will be announced at the upcoming CAF Awards 2024 ceremony, where Africa’s finest footballing talents will be celebrated.
