Camavinga Ruled Out for Season with Groin Injury, Likely to Miss Club World Cup

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga will be sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering a groin injury, the club confirmed on Thursday. The French international sustained the injury during Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Getafe in their La Liga fixture on Wednesday.
“Following tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a complete rupture of the left adductor tendon,” the club announced in an official statement.
Spanish media reports indicate that Camavinga will miss Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against arch-rivals Barcelona, as well as Real Madrid’s final five La Liga matches. The team is currently striving to reduce the points gap on Barcelona at the top of the table.
Further reports suggest that the injury could also rule Camavinga out of the upcoming Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States this summer. Initial estimates suggest a recovery period of approximately three months.
The 22-year-old has experienced an inconsistent season, despite having played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s successful La Liga and Champions League campaigns last year.
