Joao Cancelo has expressed his desire to stay at Barcelona and continue wearing the Catalan club’s iconic jersey. The Manchester City loanee appears eager to secure a permanent move to Camp Nou, with his adoration for Ronaldinho’s period fueling his ambitions.
Joao Cancelo, who is presently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester City, has expressed a desire to continue with the Catalan club. The Portuguese defender, eager to emulate his idol Ronaldinho, expressed his joy in representing Barcelona and hinted at a desire for a long-term commitment.
“I was lucky enough to play for only big teams. I am proud of my career because nobody has ever gifted me anything. I’ve conquered everything with sacrifice,” Cancelo said.
“I know nothing yet [about the future], but I’d like to stay here. I grew up watching Ronaldinho’s Barcelona. He’s my idol. I am proud to wear this jersey, and there aren’t other clubs I can join, right?”
Reports suggest that Manchester City could demand a transfer fee of €30 to permanently sell the Portugal international.
The Catalan giants seem prepared to engage in negotiations to secure the services of the 29-year-old full-back beyond his loan spell; however, they are said to only be willing to pay a fee in the region of €15 million to €20 million.
