CBN Names 16 New Directors to Key Positions

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has ushered in a new wave of leadership with the appointment of 16 dynamic professionals to oversee its core departments, marking a significant step in reinforcing the bank’s operations across various policy-driven, regulatory, and supervisory sectors.

Effective from March 3, the newly appointed directors will play pivotal roles in strengthening the bank’s efficiency and strategic initiatives. These appointments reflect CBN’s commitment to enhancing its service delivery and ensuring a more robust financial system in Nigeria.

Among the notable appointees are Jide-Samuel Avbasowamen, who will steer the helm of the Information Technology Department, and Abdullahi Hamisu, appointed as the new director for the Banking Services Department. Ojumu Adenike will lead the Medical Services Department, while Makinde Olanrewaju takes charge of the Procurement and Support Services Department, ensuring seamless operations within these crucial functions.

The Financial Department sees the appointment of Sike Ijeoma as Director of the Financial Policy and Regulation Department, with Isa-Olatinwo Aisha heading the Consumer Protection Department. Oboh Victor Ugbem steps into the role of Monetary Policy Department director, driving policy decisions to ensure financial stability.

In other key sectors, Nakorji Musa will lead the Trade and Exchange Department, while Yusuf Rakiya assumes the position of Director for Payments System Supervision. Overseeing innovation and strategic management is Vincent Modesola, while Farouk Muhammad will direct the Reserve Management Department. Akinwunmi Olubukola Akinniyi is the new head of Banking Supervision, reinforcing CBN’s regulatory oversight.

Further strengthening the bank’s financial oversight, Solaja Mohammed-Jamiu is appointed Director of the Other Financial Institutions Supervision Department (OFISD), with Hassan Umar to lead the Development and Finance Institutions Supervision Department. Adedeji Adetona will spearhead the Currency Operations and Branch Management Department, while Okpanachi Moses will take charge of the Statistics Department, ensuring accurate and timely data management.

These strategic appointments signal a renewed focus on effective leadership, with the new directors bringing fresh perspectives and a wealth of experience to their respective roles. As CBN continues to shape the future of Nigeria’s financial landscape, these leaders are poised to play a crucial role in driving the bank’s mission forward.
