The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, has reiterated the bank’s strong commitment to bolstering economic relations between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, highlighting efforts to deepen partnerships in key growth sectors.

Cardoso’s statement came during a courtesy visit to the CBN headquarters by Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Nigeria, Faisal bin Ibrahim Alghamdi, and his diplomatic team on Sunday.

Speaking during the meeting, Cardoso expressed the CBN’s determination to enhance bilateral cooperation, focusing on sectors that will accelerate both countries’ economic progress.

“The Central Bank of Nigeria remains dedicated to exploring and nurturing partnerships that will drive economic prosperity for both Nigeria and Saudi Arabia,” Cardoso said, emphasizing the importance of mutual growth and tangible benefits.

He also praised Saudi Arabia for its gracious hospitality during the recent AIUla event, a collaborative effort between the Saudi Ministry of Finance and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Office in Riyadh, which further strengthened diplomatic ties.

Ambassador Alghamdi, in turn, expressed Saudi Arabia’s eagerness to expand cooperation with Nigeria, focusing on strategic areas such as renewable energy, agriculture, and water infrastructure. “We are committed to fostering a deeper relationship with Nigeria and identifying opportunities that will benefit both nations long-term,” he said.

This visit marks a pivotal moment in the evolving relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, signaling a shared vision for sustained economic growth, innovation, and prosperity. Both nations are now poised to leverage their strengths in a rapidly changing global landscape.
