Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha Shares How She Learned Yoruba for Her Role in Netflix’s Seven Doors
Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha has opened up about the intense preparation that went into her role in the newly released Netflix series, Seven Doors. In the series, Akpotha plays the role of an Igbo queen married to a Yoruba king, portrayed by Femi Adebayo. The story weaves together themes of kingship, kinship, family, love, betrayal, and restitution.
In a recent televised interview alongside her co-star, Femi Adebayo, Akpotha revealed that she had to learn Yoruba specifically for her role. “I had to learn Yoruba for my role in Seven Doors,” she explained. “The Yoruba in the movie was not the regular one spoken in Lagos State, so I had to be very particular about the tone.”
Her dedication to mastering the language underscores the depth of her commitment to delivering an authentic performance, further highlighting her versatility as an actress in the series.
