Chukwumerije foundation takes taekwondo to schools

The French Embassy in Nigeria and the French Institute, in collaboration with the Chika Chukwumerije Sports Foundation (CCSF), are organising a workshop at the Springhall British School in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Abuja on September 25, in celebration of the just finished Olympic and Paralympic Games.

With the theme “Inspire the Future,” the closed workshop is one of many athletic events that the French Embassy is organising across Nigerian schools to highlight the country’s vibrancy during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

According to the organisers, the objective of the workshop is to inspire, inform and educate the young participants on the subjects of ‘The Olympics, taekwondo and self-defence.‘

The workshop, which will be based on the Paris 2024 Olympics theme of “Excellence, Respect and Friendship“, will be spearheaded by Team Nigeria captain to the London 2012 Olympics and Beijing 2008 Olympic medallist, Chika Chukwumerije.

Sixty students have been confirmed to participate in the closed workshop, which would include basic self-defence training for girls, and an introduction to taekwondo, the Olympics values and Nigeria’s taekwondo Olympics history.
