Confed Cup: Black Bulls relish Matola clash with Enyimba

Black Bulls Maputo are looking forward to playing Enyimba in their CAF Confederation Group D match on December 15 at Campo da ABB, Matola, Zimbabwe.

The draw was place in Cairo, Egypt on Monday, and the Mozambicans expressed their delight in response to a post on Enyimba’s official Facebook page. The post focused on the team’s group D draw against Zamalek SC, Al Masry, Enyimba, and Black Bulls.

“It’s an honour to be part of this group stage with such internationally renowned teams. We look forward to welcoming you to Mozambique with open arms and enjoying every match. See you soon!” wrote the Maputo-based club that first won the Moçambola in 2021, four years after formation.

Their brilliant showings in earlier stages of the series give the Mozambicans the impetus to face their illustrious group opponents with so much guts.

After annihilating 11-0 on aggregate in the First Preliminary Round in August, they edged Otôho d’Oyo to a spot at the group stage on away goal advantage after 2-2 aggregate scores.

Several former champions, including USM Alger, Zamalek SC, and RS Berkane, are involved in the group stage this year as they gear up for fierce competition.

Group B features former champions RS Berkane of Morocco, who will look to excel against Mali’s Stade Malien, CD Lundal Sul, and South African debutants Stellenbosch.

Group C includes former champions USM Alger from Algeria, who will battle ASEC Mimosas, ASC Jaraaf, and Orapa United.

Group A is arguably the “Group of Death,” featuring Simba SC of Tanzania, CS Sfaxien from Tunisia, and Algerian powerhouses CS Constantine.

The group stage kicks off in November, setting the stage for some of Africa’s biggest clubs to chase TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup glory.
