The Federal High Court in Abuja has been asked to remove the newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (rtd).
The suit, filed by Abuja-based legal practitioner Mr. Johnmary Jideobi, lists President Bola Tinubu as the 1st defendant, while Vice Admiral Ibas and the Attorneys-General of the 36 states are named as the 2nd to 39th defendants in the case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/572/2025.
The plaintiff is seeking a court order to declare all actions taken by Vice Admiral Ibas as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State unconstitutional and void.
The suit also asks the court to issue a perpetual injunction preventing President Tinubu and his agents from removing, suspending, or tampering with the tenure of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Rivers State or any other state in Nigeria.
Additionally, the plaintiff seeks an injunction to prevent President Tinubu from appointing any Sole Administrator to any State Government House across the 36 states for any purpose.
