A former Head of Service of the Federation, Stephen Oronsaye, has been discharged and acquitted of the N2 billion fraud charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Oronsaye was in 2015 arraigned alongside the Managing Director of Frederick Hamilton Global Services Limited, Osarenkhoe Afe on allegations of corruption.
Justice Ekwo stressed that the totality of the evidence the EFCC adduced in the course of the trial was not convincing enough to move the court to convict the defendants.
According to the court, the prosecution, failed to effectively discharge the evidential burden that was placed on it by the law.
The court held that no credible evidence was presented by the 21 witnesses called by the EFCC.
