Customs Auction Seized Petrol At ₦630 Per Litre

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has auctioned seized Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, in Yola, Adamawa State.

NCS Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, represented by Deputy Controller General Olaniyi Olajugun, announced that the auction took place at two petrol stations in Yola, selling the fuel at ₦630 per litre.

Adeniyi highlighted the ongoing challenges of fuel smuggling and the need for continued vigilance. Under Operation Whirlwind, significant successes have been recorded, including the seizure of two lorries, 1,046 kegs filled with PMS, and 12 drums of petroleum products across various locations, such as the North-West, South-West, and southern borders.

He warned those involved in smuggling activities that strict legal actions will be enforced, urging the public, especially in border areas, to assist customs operations.

“Your vigilance and cooperation are crucial in safeguarding our nation’s resources,” he emphasized, reinforcing the importance of ensuring that the benefits of fuel price deregulation reach all Nigerians.
