Dammy Krane released after 6 days in police custody, apologises to Davido
Nigerian singer Dammy Krane has been released from detention at the Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja after spending nearly a week in custody. His release came after a series of serious allegations against fellow musician Davido, which Krane had made earlier.
On August 22, Krane had accused Davido of orchestrating his arrest. He alleged that Davido had bribed law enforcement to detain him under false pretenses, claiming involvement in illegal activities related to Flutterwave and cryptocurrency scams. Krane also warned that Davido should be held accountable for any potential harm that might come to him.
In a recent update, Funmilayo Eguaoje, the spokesperson for the FCID, confirmed that Krane had been questioned by the cybercrime unit. However, the specific reasons for his detention were not disclosed.
Following his release, Krane was seen celebrating in a video shared by social media activist VeryDarkMan. In the video, Krane issued a public apology to Davido, retracting his previous accusations.
He also expressed gratitude to the police commissioner in Abuja and to VeryDarkMan for their support. Krane acknowledged the gravity of his earlier statements and reaffirmed his connection with Davido, stating, “David is my brother,” and indicating a desire to resolve their issues amicably.
Krane also took the opportunity to promote his upcoming project, titled “King of Afrobeats,” which is scheduled for release on September 6. Despite the recent turmoil, he emphasized his commitment to his music career, stating, “It is still WorldStar movement. Let us spread more music.”
The conflict between Krane and Davido has been ongoing, with Krane previously alleging that Davido owed him for songwriting contributions and accusing him of sabotaging a record deal with Sony Music.
Davido responded by labeling Krane as “ungrateful” and denying any financial obligations or wrongdoing. He also claimed to have supported Krane during a period of homelessness and threatened legal action for defamation and cyberbullying.
