Don’t post camp activities on social media — NYSC DG warns corps members

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, has instructed corps members to refrain from posting orientation camp activities on social media platforms.

General Ahmed underlined that breaking this regulation might lead to the offender’s decampment. At the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ede on Friday, he warned corps members who had been assigned to Osun State for the Batch B Stream I national service.

According to General Ahmed “It is an offence to carry activities of the camp and post on social media. The penalty is that such corps members will be decamped,”. He urged corps members to respect others’ opinions, thoughts, cultures, values, and the norms of the communities where they are deployed to serve.

General Ahmed also discouraged redeployment and relocation among corps members, advising them to remain where they are deployed and carve out their own paths. He warned against frequent traveling, advising, “Obtain permission before you travel and don’t travel by night. Once it is 6pm, break your journey and continue the following day.”

He emphasized the need of personal security, saying, “Never joke about your personal security. Always follow the counsel of the camp administrators. NYSC will never assign you to dangerous locations, so don’t put yourself in needless danger. Because your parents have put a lot of trust in you, you must listen and be safe. Stay careful and take every precaution to stay safe.”

Additionally, General Ahmed advised corps members to maintain cleanliness to prevent cholera. “You must remain clean. Ensure you wash your hands as much as possible. Avoid anything that will endanger your health,” .
