Dr. Temitope Ilori Appointed Director-General of NACA by President Tinubu

 

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Temitope Ilori to lead the charge as the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) for an initial term of four years.

The announcement of her appointment was made in a statement issued by President Tinubu’s media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday.

Dr. Ilori brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role, having served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Community Medicine at the esteemed University of Ibadan and as a consultant family physician at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Her academic journey is impressive, having earned her MBBS degree from the University of Ibadan and completing her residency training at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

She holds fellowships from the Faculty of Family Medicine, West African College of Physicians, and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN).

Additionally, she has pursued advanced studies, obtaining both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Ibadan.

Currently, she is a PhD fellow in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa.

Dr. Ilori’s professional contributions extend beyond academia. She has served as the Commissioner for Health in Osun State from 2011 to 2014 and as Chairperson of the Osun State Agency on Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA). Her dedication to public health and her track record of leadership make her well-suited for the task at hand.

In his statement, President Tinubu expressed confidence in Dr. Ilori’s ability to steer NACA towards achieving its mandate.

This includes the coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the implementation of the Strategic National Plan for the control of HIV/AIDS/STDs, as well as the mobilization of resources for an effective and sustainable response to HIV/AIDS/STDs.
