Draw against Man United Feels Like Loss –Van Dijk

Virgil Van Dijk, Liverpool felt like they lost their 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Luis Diaz’s goal set up Jurgen Klopp’s team to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League table, as Liverpool dominated the first half of the match at Old Trafford.

However, Liverpool only led 1-0 at the break despite having numerous good chances.

Bruno Fernandes took advantage of a mistake made by Jarell Quansah to score a long-range equalizer, punishing the Reds early in the second half.

Exciting youngster Kobiie Mainoo then gave United a 2-1 lead before Aaron Wan Bissaka conceded a penalty, which Mohamed Salah equalised from.

But the result at Old Trafford is a blow to Klopp’s team, with Arsenal now leading the table on goal difference and reigning champions Manchester City just a point behind.

Reacting to the outcome of the result, Van Dijk was unequivocal on where the blame lies over two dropped points against their struggling rivals.

When asked by Sky Sports, via The Athletics, if the result felt like a blow, the Liverpool captain referenced their 4-3 FA Cup defeat against United three weeks earlier. He said: “Of course. Obviously, it’s our own fault again.

“We should have been 2-0 up at least at half-time. We created dangerous moments and we had the match under control and it’s just a shame. Definitely feels like a loss at this point.

“Obviously, because we were wasteful in our chances, we gave them a lifeline and unfortunately, individual mistakes can happen in the game, but there was still so much time to put it right.

“We were in a rush, losing too many balls and challengers in midfield, then obviously, it could be a wide open game instead of keeping it calm, but yeah, it feels like a loss.
