DSS Arrest Two Suspects in Uromi Killing of 16 Travellers

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have apprehended two principal suspects allegedly involved in the brutal killing of 16 travellers in Uromi, Esan North-East local government area of Edo State last week. The arrests were made in Uromi town following credible intelligence, as confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Friday Ituah, in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Ituah added that security agencies are still on the lookout for additional key suspects connected to the tragic incident. The arrested suspects have been transferred to Abuja for further interrogation and prosecution by the relevant authorities.

On Monday, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo visited Kano State to convey his condolences to the victims’ families. He revealed that 14 other suspects had already been arrested in relation to the killings and would also be moved to Abuja for further questioning.

Governor Okpebholo reassured the families of the victims that justice would be served, and that appropriate compensations would be provided. The Governor also vowed to ensure that those responsible for the heinous act would face the full force of the law.
