Peter Afunanya, the Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications at the Department of State Services (DSS) National Headquarters in Abuja, has been redeployed. He announced his reassignment during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, September 4, but did not disclose where his next posting would be.
Afunanya, who has served as the DSS spokesperson for the past decade, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve his country in that capacity. He affirmed his ongoing dedication to the DSS and Nigeria, promising to continue serving with “love, loyalty, honour, and glory” in any future role.
This development comes shortly after the newly appointed Director General of the DSS, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, took office last week. Upon assuming his role, Ajayi pledged to refocus the DSS on its core principles of covertness and strategic silence. He also emphasized the Service’s commitment to addressing the economic, political, and security challenges currently facing Nigeria.
