DSS seizes Emefiele’s passport, plans home, office search

the Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly seized the passport of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

This action is part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of financial impropriety leveled against the CBN Governor.

The agency added that Emefiele’s home and office will also be searched this week.

The search is expected to provide more evidence in the ongoing investigation into the allegations against the CBN Governor.

Following his suspension on Friday as a result of the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector, the service arrested Emefiele in Lagos and flew him to Abuja in a private jet on Saturday.

The spokesperson for the service, Peter Afunanya, in a statement said Emefiele had been taken into custody and was under investigation.

According to the statement, Emefiele was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate),  Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, who will act as the CBN governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.
