Exactly 37 days after his suspension, the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has reinstated his Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Samson Osagie. This decision follows the exoneration of Osagie by an investigative panel set up by the government to probe allegations of financial misconduct.
A letter from the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Ikhilor, Esq., dated March 12, 2025, and marked SGA. 15/NOL.XV111/215, was made public around 8:15 PM. The letter confirmed that following the conclusion of the investigation, which cleared Osagie of any wrongdoing, Governor Okpebholo has directed him to resume his duties as the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, effective March 12, 2025.
Reacting to his reinstatement, Osagie expressed his gratitude towards the governor for his fairness and transparency. “I appreciate his sincerity of purpose and vision for the state. This is a clear indication that His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, means well for the state,” Osagie remarked. He also reiterated his unwavering commitment and loyalty to the governor and his administration, adding, “I remain committed to joining him in ensuring that Edo State recovers all lost ground and takes its rightful place on the national stage.”
This development marks a significant moment in the leadership dynamics of Edo State as the government moves forward with renewed trust and focus.
