EFCC Chairman Olukoyede Expresses Confidence in Nigeria’s Ability to Conquer Corruption

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has expressed unwavering confidence that Nigeria possesses the strength and unity to tackle corruption. Speaking on Sunday in Abuja during his Eid-el-Fitr message to Muslims across the country, Olukoyede emphasized that defeating economic and financial crimes is not only possible but achievable through collective will and determination.

“Tackling economic and financial crimes, as well as other corrupt practices, is within our reach through the courage and collective commitment of Nigerians,” Olukoyede stated. He further reassured the public, saying, “Nigerians are stronger than corruption. No corrupt act can break our collective resolve. We have everything we need to confront and ultimately overcome economic and financial crimes.”

He called on Muslims to embrace the values instilled during the holy month of Ramadan self-denial, discipline, sacrifice, love, and purity, and to carry those lessons into their everyday lives by rejecting corrupt behaviors. “I congratulate all Muslims and urge them to allow the lessons of self-denial, discipline, sacrifice, love, and purity from Ramadan to strengthen their commitment to rejecting corrupt practices,” Olukoyede added.

Highlighting the significance of Eid-el-Fitr, he noted that the festival magnifies Allah’s benevolence and sacrifice, and encouraged Nigerians to internalize the messages of peace, joy, and celebration, using them as motivation to fight corruption. “May the lessons of love, peace, joy, and celebration inspire us all to deepen our resolve against corruption,” he remarked.

Olukoyede reassured Nigerians that the EFCC’s fight against corruption remains steadfast. “The anti-corruption war is progressing, and the EFCC is gaining strength and momentum in its efforts to curb economic and financial crimes,” he concluded.

The EFCC chairman’s remarks came as part of his broader message of hope, urging Nigerians to remain committed to building a corruption-free society.
