EFCC to charge Bobrisky to court, says ‘she serially abuses naira at parties’
Operatives of the Lagos zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have commenced an investigation of Bobrisky for allegedly spraying naira notes.
The self-proclaimed transgender and crossdresser was arrested on Wednesday night in Lagos.
In a statement on Thursday, the commission said the 31-year-old was invited after a viral video of her allegedly spraying and flaunting wads of new naira notes at the premiere of a movie ‘Ajakaju’.
Produced by Eniola Ajao, the actress and producer, ‘Ajakaju’ premiered at Film One Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos on March 24.
The anti-graft agency said an investigation showed Bobrisky had also “committed the alleged offence at some other event centres and parties at different times”.
The EFCC said the social media celebrity honoured an invitation by the commission at its Lagos zonal command for interrogation and volunteered her statements.
The commission added that she would soon be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Born Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, the social media celebrity has always been in the news for controversial reasons.
She claimed to be Nigeria’s first transgender and once admitted to having severed her genitals.
Bobrisky had in 2020 revealed that she opted for crossdressing to make ends meet after 25 years of being a man.
In September 2021, the social media celebrity also talked about some of the perks she enjoys being a “woman”.
