Embrace Responsible Sexual Practices This Holidays, NACA Tells Nigerians

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has counseled Nigerians to engage in responsible and safe sex over the course of the festive season to prevent the spread of HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections.

Toyin Aderibigbe, NACA’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol signed the press statement which was made known by the agency on Tuesday

The Director General of NACA, Dr Gambo Aliyu, was quoted as saying that engaging in unsafe and unclean sexual activities can heighten the risk of HIV transmission and other STIs.

He said, “The holiday season is a time of joy and celebration, and as we come together with loved ones, it is paramount that we prioritize our health and well-being.

“As we celebrate this festive season, let us make responsible choices in our intimate lives. By adopting and advocating responsible sexual practices, we can collectively contribute to a healthier and happier community.

“Abstinence, maintaining faithfulness to your partner, and consistently using condoms are among the most effective measures to prevent the transmission of these infections.”

Aliyu continued, saying that the organization is still dedicated to promoting preventative actions and increasing public awareness in order to safeguard public health.
