Employment Opportunities: Senator Orji Kalu Tasks Lawmakers On Legislation For Entrepreneurs
Former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is expecting the Nigerian government to institute a legislation that would strengthen entrepreneurship in the country.
The Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate believes that provision of special funds for entrepreneurs makes for an economic vitality and improves the socio- economic opportunities for the citizenry.
Kalu expressed the belief on Friday, May 19, 2023 during the Commissioning of one of the leading fast food chains, Tastia Restaurant and Bakery in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
While the Nigerian Legislator spoke in glowing terms about the Private Sector in Nigeria, he urged the Nigerian government to extend loan facilities to the Entrepreneurs – an enabling environment – which facilitates economic opportunities.
“We need to come up with new legislation to encourage entrepreneurs and protect their businesses. The government should also consider setting up a hospitality bank to provide more access for those in the hospitality industry to get loans.”
For his part the owner of Tastia Restaurant and Bakery – a quick service restaurant (QSR) – Kester Agwu Nwogo, who prided himself on the employment of over a thousand staffers, boasted that more branches are in the pipeline which would take a good number of Nigerian youths off the street.
While he conceded that his craze for providing employment opportunities is ostensibly to complement the efforts of the Federal Government, he prevailed on the incoming Administration to prioritize the future of Nigerian youths.
