According to the Auburn Police, Favour Ashe, a former Nigerian 100-meter champion, has been detained on many charges of fraud and embezzlement.
As to www.wtvm.com, the 21-year-old Auburn University student-athlete is facing charges of two third-degree theft of property and four counts of fraudulent use of a debit or credit card.
‘Auburn Police initially received a theft report on February 4th when a victim reported that multiple items were stolen from a purse near the 100 block of West Magnolia Avenue.
‘A credit card was among the items stolen, and the victim discovered several fraudulent charges were made using the stolen card.
‘Ashe was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $9,000 bond,’ the website reported.
Ashe is the fastest Nigerian over the 60m so far this year at 6.63m and was one of three Nigerian athletes that ran inside 10 seconds in the 100m last year.
