Primary school teachers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) FCT chapter, have suspended their strike.
The union’s secretary, Margareth Jethro, confirmed the suspension following a meeting between the union leadership and the FCT Minister, Nyessom Wike.
The strike, which began on 18 September, had resulted in the closure of primary schools across all six local council areas in the FCT.
The decision to suspend the industrial action marks a step towards resolving the issues that prompted the strike and resuming academic activities in the affected schools.
