FCT Senator Kingibe demands public apology from Wike

The senator of the federal capital territory (FCT), Ireti Kingibe has responded to remarks made by FCT minister ,Nyesom Wike threatening to unseat her in 2027.

Since resuming their respective offices, Kingibe and Wike have been at loggerheads.

Speaking at the Mabushi Bus Terminal Flag-off ceremony earlier in June, the minister had predicted that the FCT senator would not win the support of citizens in the nation’s capital in the general elections of 2027 while.

In response, Wike called it discouraging that rather than working with the FCT Administration, Kingibe was upset that the people there were giving the administration led by President Bola Tinubu praise.

In addition, Wike advised the senator to hang herself from a transformer if she was dissatisfied with his FCT performance.

In response, Kinigibe remarked that Wike does not get the idea of leadership in the Federal Capital Territory and that the Minister must not to address her in such a rude way.

Reacting to this in an interview, the Labour Party Senator said Wike ought to apologize to her because considering their age difference.

She said, “He doesn’t obviously understand the concept of the FCT. If he did, it is nothing personal. He says, ‘I don’t want to be her friend.’ How does governance translate into friendship?

Kingibe noted she is willing to work with the FCT Minister as long as he apologises first for his utterances.
